Ballydoyle supremo Aidan O’Brien has outlined his running plans for next weekend’s French Guineas meeting.
With stable-star One Cool Cat likely to go for the Irish equivalent, O’Brien hopes to send Antonius Pius to Longchamp for the Gainsborough Poule D’Essai Des Poulains.
“The plan at the moment is for Antonius Pius to run in the colts’ race and Royal Tigress in the fillies’ race (Poule D’Essai Des Pouliches), while we may run Book of Kings or Esperanto in the Lupin,” he said.
Antonius Pius raced three times as a two-year-old and lost his unbeaten record when finishing 11th of 12 in the Darley Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket in October.
However, the Danzig colt left that form behind when finishing a close second to leading Derby-fancy American Post in the Prix de Fontainebleau last month, only to be demoted to last in the stewards’ room.
Stablemate Royal Tigress broke her duck at the third time of asking when landing the Leopardstown 1000 Guineas Trial last month, beating Takrice by a short head.
