Ruby and Cenkos win Warwick Castle Chase

Cenkos won his third Warwick Castle Chase with a fluent display of jumping in the hands of Ruby Walsh this evening.

The Paul Nicholls-trained 10-year-old had previously landed the Warwick contest in 2001 and again last year.

And another success was never in doubt as the 1-3 favourite strode readily clear to score by seven lengths from his stable companion Kadarann with Venn Ottery five lengths back in third.

Walsh sent Cenkos straight into the lead and although Venn Ottery flattered briefly three out, the winner was never seriously threatened.

Earlier on the card, champion jockey Tony McCoy completed a treble on the day for his new boss Jonjo O’Neill when Masters Of War took the Ray Randerson Carpets Handicap Hurdle at 5-4 favourite.

O’Neill and McCoy had also been on the mark with Golden Rambler in the Cancer Research UK’s Race For Life Novices’ Chase and Day Du Roy in the Arena Leisure Handicap Chase at Southwell.
