Unlimited success

Ann Duffield opened her two-year-old account for the season when Unlimited, ridden by her husband George, won the Littlewoods Bet Direct Maiden Auction Stakes at Southwell today.

Urabande (50-1) took up the running with three furlongs to race but Unlimited, the 13-8 favourite, went in pursuit and he edged into the lead a furlong out.

However he had to be kept right up to his work to hold his game rival’s renewed challenge to score by half a length with Eternally three lengths away in third.

Mrs Duffield said: “All our two-year-olds have been going well and it is nice to get off the mark and the pleasing thing is that they are healthy.

“I think Unlimited will be better on Turf, but he hasn’t seen any grass as he has done a couple of bits of work here as well as had his first race here.”
