Newmarket assignment for Brittain ace
Warrsan will be at Newmarket on Sunday to try and defend his crown in the Jockey Club Stakes – and he will have a new partner in the shape of Darryll Holland.
Connections had been considering sending Warrsan to France for the Prix Ganay rather than heading to the UltimateBet.com-sponsored contest at Newmarket, where the colt shoulders a 5lb penalty.
However, trainer Clive Brittain said: “I wanted to wait and see how Warrsan worked this morning under Darryll Holland, who will ride him on Sunday, and everything went very well.”
Holland is delighted to get the mount on a day which also sees him united with leading 1000 Guineas contender Majestic Desert.
“I’ve been riding Warrsan in his work for Clive recently and he’s given me a great feel. He’s fit from running in Dubai and I can’t wait for Sunday’s race,” he said.
“It’s fantastic to be given such a good ride.”
