Ecomium made an impressive racecourse debut when streaking home in the opening Giles Fox at Newmarket Racecourse Maiden Stakes at Headquarters today.
The Jeremy Noseda-trained son of Sadler’s Wells could be picked out as the winner with fully three furlongs to run as he was absolutely cantering under Eddie Ahern.
The 7-1 chance quickened readily when his rider pressed the button and was full value for his five-length margin over Buckeye Wonder.
Parliament Square, the 13-8 favourite, never really got into it but stayed on for third, one and a half lengths further back under Johnny Murtagh.
