Frankie bags Folkstone five-timer
Frankie Dettori was in tremendous form at Folkestone today, riding a fabulous five-timer to the tune of 947-1.
In his most successful day since his magnificent seven at Ascot in September 1996, Dettori once again thrilled his legion of supporters.
He struck first on Observer (4-7) in the opening EBF Tenterden Maiden Stakes for David Loder, then quickly followed up on the John Gosden-trained Petite Rose (11-4) in the Barham Median Auction Maiden Stakes.
After finishing only third on 11-8 favourite Perfect Portrait in the next race, Dettori bounced right back with victory on 10-1 shot Wistman for Loder in the folkestone-racecourse.co.uk Maiden Stakes.
He completed his five-timer on Brian Pearce’s Doctored (11-2) in the Come Racing In Kent Selling Handicap and Belle Rouge (5-4) for Con Horgan in the HBLB Lunch In The Lookout Restaurant Fillies’ Handicap.
His hopes of making it six in the last race were dashed when Zalkani finished in the rear after making the early running.
