Rosencrans to take on Milk It Mick
Paul Dixon’s UltimateBet.com 2000 Guineas contender Milk It Mick, last year’s Dewhurst Stakes hero, is set to face at least one classy opponent as he returns to action at Lingfield on Saturday week.
Trainer Jamie Osborne has already declared the colt to be on course for the £40,000 (€59,400) International Trial Stakes at the track on April 3 after he sparkled in a workout at Lingfield earlier this week.
But Godolphin racing manager Simon Crisford has revealed that their talented performer Rosencrans is also set to take in the contest, having won another Listed prize at the track last Saturday when beating Fokine in the Ladbrokes.com Spring Cup.
Crisford said: “Rosencrans won at Lingfield last Saturday which was fun and he will have another race on the all-weather in Britain, probably running against Milk It Mick at Lingfield again to give him a chance to show how good he is.
“The race’s conditions are framed to attract good horses and that is what Milk It Mick is, so we will be at a bit of a disadvantage but I’m sure he won’t be disgraced.
“After that he will come back to Dubai before returning to Europe. He will probably go in the summer to America where he will be far better suited to the fast dirt tracks.”
Rosencrans has won three of his four races, proving successful in America last year, before winning in Dubai in February before his latest success.
“We were thinking the other day that he must be the youngest horse ever to have won on three different continents,” Crisford added.
