Polish Summer landed the opening Pattern race of the European Flat season yesterday when the Andre Fabre-trained runner prevailed in a thrilling finish to the Prix Exbury at Saint-Cloud.

Christophe Soumillon tracked favourite Bright Sky on the seven-year-old before delivering a challenge to win the Group Three race by a short head despite drifting left.
