Lad's recovery going well

Veteran staying hurdler Limestone Lad is reported to be on course to return next season.

The 12-year-old is recovering from a tendon injury and has not been seen on the track since finishing third behind Baracouda in the Bonusprint Stayers’ Hurdle last March.

The gelding, who has won 35 races in his career, has been a leading light for the James Bowe yard.

Bowe’s son and assistant trainer Michael is pleased with Limestone Lad’s current condition. “He’s in good order. He’s in and out at the moment, just enjoying life really,” he said today.

“It gave me great heart to see Florida Pearl winning the Hennessy last week as they are the same age, but old age doesn’t seem to affect horses like these.

“We’re very pleased with him and looking forward to next season now.”
