Hopes increase for Wetherby

Officials at Wetherby are optimistic that racing can take place tomorrow after conditions at the West Yorkshire track improved today.

The course was found to be fit for racing at 1pm but a precautionary inspection will be held at 7.30am tomorrow because of the threat of overnight rain.

“It has improved nicely this morning. There are showers about which is something we have to take into consideration,” said chief executive Tim Betteridge.

“If we got anymore significant rain it would knock us back a bit, but today for the first time this week we are fit to race. We have to keep our fingers crossed.”

The going is described as soft, heavy in places.
