Tyne best in Skybet slog
Tyneandthyneagain made his stamina count in an out-and-out slog for the £50,000 (€73,100) Skybet Chase at Doncaster today.
The rain-softened ground made this three-mile contest a severe test and Tyneandthyneagain outstayed his rivals in tremendous fashion.
Pushed into the lead by Henry Oliver before the four fences in the home straight, Tyneandthyneagain gradually pulled clear of his rivals.
The 7-1 chance overcame an untidy jump at the second-last to take the final fence safely and win eased down by six lengths.
Magical Bailiwick (5-1) overtook the gambled-on 4-1 favourite Gottabe on the run-in to claim second place by two and a half lengths.
Tyneandthyneagain was scheduled to run in the Singer & Friedlander National Trial at Uttoxeter but was rerouted to South Yorkshire when that meeting was abandoned due to a waterlogged course.
The nine-year-old is owned by Norman Mason and trained by Richard Guest, who combined to take the 2001 Grand National with Red Marauder.
Tyneandthyneagain received a 50-1 quote from Paddy Power for this year’s Aintree marathon.
