Richard Dunwoody and Desert Orchid, who enjoyed two victories together in the King George VI Chase, are to be reunited at Kempton Park on Boxing Day

It will be the three-times champion jump jockey’s final public appearance in the saddle.

Dunwoody will team up with Desert Orchid in the parade before the Pertemps-sponsored contest and will then gallop the 24-year-old up the home straight in front of the stands.

“Desert Orchid is a standing dish on Boxing Day at Kempton Park. His four victories in the King George have made his name synonymous with the King George, and I look forward to being reunited,” said Dunwoody.

As well as partnering the grey to victory in 1989 and 1990, Dunwoody also took the race twice on One Man.
