McCoy notches ton

Tony McCoy recorded his 100th winner of the season when Jollyolly took the Cheltenham Ladies College 150th Anniversary Novices’ Hurdle yesterday.

McCoy kicked on aboard the favourite two out and the pair were not stopping after the last, beating Irish raider Fairwood Present by two and a half lengths.

The winner was giving Haverfordwest trainer Peter Bowen his 22nd success of the campaign and he went on to land the big race at Haydock with Swansea Bay.

Afterwards McCoy said: “To be honest I had forgotten about it, but it is still nice to get there, and in view of how long I was off (nine weeks) in the summer when I broke my arm, I am pleased to get it as early in the season as this.

“I have been going very well in the last three or four weeks and I think I am fitter and harder than I have ever been. I have been taking the training very seriously.

“I go to the gym to train three or four times every week, but there is no way I am going to do less than 10st 4lb ever again.”
