Eddery to receive special presentation
Newmarket are to mark Pat Eddery’s retirement with a special presentation during racing on Saturday.
The 11-times champion jockey will receive a montage of photographs by Gerry Cranham showing 10 of his best moments in 35 years’ riding at British racing's headquarters.
They will include his one and only Cesarewitch victory on Landing Light earlier this month.
“Pat’s retirement will be a great loss to the weighing room and he’s riding as well now as he ever has done,” said Newmarket’s managing director Lisa Hancock.
“I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Pat here at Newmarket though. I know he’s bought some nice yearlings at the October sales for his racing club and it will be a pleasure to welcome him back into the winner’s enclosure in the very near future.”
Among Eddery’s great Newmarket triumphs are the 2000 Guineas (three times), 1000 Guineas (once), July Cup (twice), Dewhurst Stakes (six times) and Champion Stakes (three times).
