O'Brien's Cobra fails to pounce

Trainer Aidan O’Brien’s highly-regarded newcomer Cobra could finish only third on his debut in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden at Gowran Park today.

Racing in the colours of Sue Magnier, the €825,000 purchase mounted a challenge as the field turned for home, but was always well held as Hurricane Alley ran out a 12-1 winner, with evens favourite Pulitser second .
