Indian Haven impresses in training
Irish 2000 Guineas hero Indian Haven pleased trainer Paul d’Arcy in a piece of work yesterday ahead of the Emirates Airline Champion Stakes on Saturday week.
The three-year-old son of Indian Ridge has not been seen since running disappointingly in the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot, coming home last of the 11 runners.
“Indian Haven worked just up to the two-furlong marker on the Rowley Mile course – we started pulling up there to ensure that we didn’t run out of watered ground,” said d’Arcy.
“The going on the racecourse is perfect. I wanted to let him have an exercise gallop on a really good surface, and I’m very pleased with him.
“The plan will be to tackle the Emirates Airline Champion Stakes a week on Saturday.”
The Newmarket trainer will be hoping for a clear run when Indian Haven takes his place in the Champion, as twice this season his charge has been hampered, and denied a run, at the crucial stage.
