Sulamani pleases in Belmont workout
Sulamani tuned up for the Grade One Turf Classic Invitational at Belmont Park on Saturday by working six furlongs at Belmont Park.
Godolphin’s four-year-old completed the work in 1:16.02 over a turf course listed as good. The Belmont clock-watchers timed Sulamani’s first half-mile in 52.40 seconds.
“The course was a little loose, but Sulamani seemed happy. Hopefully, he’s on top of his game,” Godolphin’s Ross Campbell told their website.
“He’s doing extremely well,” Tom Albertrani, assistant to trainer Saeed bin Suroor, told thoroughbredtimes.com.
“He wasn’t asked for much. Distance is going to make a big difference. He’s run well at a mile-and-a-quarter, but a mile-and-a-half suits him better.”
Sulamani, who is being aimed at the Breeders’ Cup Turf at Santa Anita next month, has remained in America since being promoted to first in the Arlington Million – a victory that gave Godolphin their 100th Group/Grade One victory.
