Bad break for Quinn
Richard Quinn could miss the rest of the turf season after breaking his collarbone in a heavy fall at Newbury on Friday.
Quinn was riding Tizi Ouzou in the Dubai Duty Free Full of Surprises Fillies’ Conditions Stakes when she jinked over a furlong out and unshipped the jockey.
He was taken to hospital for treatment but allowed home later.
“He has a broken collarbone and he is likely to be out of action for four to six weeks after which time the season is virtually over, but he’ll take a view as he recovers,” his agent Robert Parsons said.
Parsons though was critical of the restrictions on mobile phones which prevented him from contacting Quinn immediately after the fall.
“I needed to get hold of him to see how he was and then to make alternative arrangements. He had rides booked today and a few already for next week, but I couldn’t contact him because of the mobile phone business,” he added.
Quinn has ridden 80 winners this year.
