Mullins at a loss to explain Tipple flop
Irish trainer Paddy Mullins has found no explanation for Vintage Tipple’s below-par run in the Ireland The Food Island Champion Stakes at Leopardstown.
The Darley Irish Oaks winner was never really going in the mile and a quarter race and she eventually finished 27-length last behind the winner High Chaparral.
Jockey Pat Smullen could shed no light on her bad run after he dismounted and Mullins is none the wiser this morning.
“She seems perfectly well this morning, nothing is apparent. We are mystified,” he said.
“There’s no doubt she was not on song yesterday but she came home and ate up last night.
“We will probably doing further tests on her tomorrow.”
