Ferris set for British Jockey Club hearing
Apprentice Fran Ferris will learn his fate at a hearing of the Jockey Club’s disciplinary panel tomorrow.
The 22-year-old, who only recently returned from a suspension totalling 32 days after a spate of bans, is facing another lengthy spell on the sidelines after breaching the whip rules again last Friday night.
Ferris was found to have used his whip with excessive force on Let’s Party in the Select Recruitment Claiming Stakes at Newmarket.
This latest transgression followed the same offence at Haydock and Windsor in consecutive days the previous weekend and triggered an automatic referral to Portman Square as Ferris had been suspended from riding for 20 days for misuse of the whip within the previous 12 months.
Tomorrow’s hearing is due to start at 10.30am.
