Kieren Fallon is set to become the retained jockey for owner Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum in Dubai this winter.

Kieren Fallon is set to become the retained jockey for owner Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum in Dubai this winter.

The champion jockey will take up his duties at the end of November with him being attached to the Jebel Ali yard of leading trainer Allan Smith.

Fallon has previously spent winters riding in Hong Kong, Japan and Macau but Smith confirmed he will spend four months in Dubai.

“Kieren has agreed to come over and ride for Sheikh Ahmed during our season and that’s great,” Smith told the Racing Post.

“We first chatted in July and then talked again last week, really just feeling each other out a bit.

“Kieren is the best jockey about and one of the most dedicated.”.

Smith added that Fallon will not start his new post until after the Japan Cup On November 23.

He said: “He’ll be staying out here full time although he could pop back for a few rides at Doncaster in March before the World Cup meeting.”
