Callan to face Jockey Club tomorrow
Irish jockey Neil Callan will have his appeal against a 14-day suspension heard by the disciplinary panel of the Jockey Club tomorrow.
The jockey was suspended for dangerous riding in the last race at Windsor on Monday evening.
Callan was on board Double M, who finished third in a photo-finish behind Playtime Blue and Flapdoodle in the five-furlong betfair.com Handicap.
The stewards decided he had intentionally crossed Graham Gibbons on fifth-placed Intellibet One, who had in turn caused Paul Quinn to check on My Brother.
They also judged he had allowed his mount to continue to drift and ended up bumping into Dunedin Rascal (Steve Carson) and Shady Deal (Mark Savage).
Double M was subsequently disqualified and placed last.
The panel for tomorrow’s appeal, which is due to get underway at 9.15am, will comprise of Andrew Merriam (chairman), John Wallinger and William Bethell.
