Milan double for Fallon and Wallace
Kieren Fallon teamed up with Newmarket trainer Mark Wallace to complete a juvenile Listed-race double in Milan today with Romancero and Firebelly.
Odds-on Romancero, gaining his third career victory, accounted for Golden Pivotal by a length and three-quarters in the Premio Giuseppe de Montel.
The race went largely to form, with Bipop a further two lengths away in third in the extended seven-furlong contest.
Firebelly carried on the good work in the Premio Gino Mantovani, also over an extended seven furlongs, with a clear-cut victory.
Fallon’s odds-on mount showed her rivals a clean pair of heels with a comprehensive two-and-a-half-length defeat of Looking Back.
Clifden’s victory in the Group Three Premio Primi Passi last month means Wallace has a 100 per cent record in Milan.
Maktub, third to Leadership in the Group One Gran Premio di Milano, paid that form a compliment by taking the opening Premio di Lombardia under top weight.
