Bowman arrows in for Godolphin

Bowman made a winning debut for the Godolphin stable when taking the Listed Crimbourne Stud ‘On The House’ Stakes at Goodwood last night.

The four-year-old finished third in the French 2000 Guineas last season when trained by Andre Fabre.

Bowman was tucked in behind leader Passing Glance for much of the way in tonight’s mile race and looked set to go clear when brought up to challenge by Frankie Dettori well over a furlong out.

But Darryll Holland had other ideas and Passing Glance stuck on really well to make it a tight finish, with Bowman (10-11) prevailing by a head.

The first two came close together in the final furlong and Bowman survived an objection to keep the race.

The lightly-raced Farqad ran on really well to be third, a further length and a quarter away.
