Byron set for July test
Byron is set to contest the TNT July Stakes at Newmarket on his next run.
David Loder’s colt, who is a son of 1994 Cheveley Park Stakes winner Gay Gallanta, is set to sidestep an alternative engagement in the Anheuser Busch Railway Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday in favour of the Group Three event on July 9.
Byron made his racecourse debut at Headquarters last Friday when beating Balmont in a six-furlong maiden and Ricky Bowman, assistant to Loder, is expecting him to return for another crack at the course and distance.
He said: “Byron won’t be going to Ireland, his next run is likely to be the July Stakes at Newmarket.
“The race at the Curragh comes a bit quickly really after the other day and the July Stakes is the right progression time wise for him.”
