McCoy discharged from hospital
Tony McCoy was discharged from hospital today as he faces up to the prospect of “five or six weeks” on the sidelines.
The champion jumps jockey was taken to Worcester Royal Hospital on Wednesday after his mount Kymberlya slipped on the final bend of the Rose Hill School Handicap Hurdle when still in contention.
McCoy was left in obvious pain on the ground, but he was able to walk into the racecourse ambulance with his arm in a sling.
He underwent an operation on a broken right arm on Thursday.
McCoy rode a winner on Tactful Remark at Southwell on Wednesday afternoon before travelling to Worcester to take up his engagements there.
He has ridden 36 winners so far this term, but the injury is a big setback to his stated target of 300 in a season.
