Battle Chant and Our Teddy out of Sagita 2000 Guineas
Battle Chant and Our Teddy have been ruled out of the Sagitta 2000 Guineas following their disappointing performances behind Hurricane Alan in the Macau Jockey Club Craven Stakes at Newmarket last week.
Ed Dunlop believes the Guineas mile is not far enough for Battle Chant, who finished fifth behind Hurricane Alan, while George Margarson is of a similar view about Our Teddy, who came home in sixth.
Dunlop said: “Battle Chant was not suited by the slow gallop in the Craven and his jockey said he didn’t come down the Dip very well.
“I shall now give him a break and run him in one of the Derby trials.”
Margarson also part blamed the sedate pace for the defeat of Our Teddy and said: “I have taken him out of the Guineas because he wants a step up in trip. There is a conditions race at Doncaster next month but I’ve left him in the Dante and might be tempted to run him in that.”
