Barryscourt Lad to miss National run
Barryscourt Lad, winner of the skybet.com Great Yorkshire Chase at Doncaster on Saturday, looks set to miss the rest of the season after returning home lame.
The nine-year-old saw off Ryalux by a head in an exciting finish but trainer Martin Pipe has confirmed the gelding, who was quoted at 20-1 for the Martell Grand National by William Hill, will now miss the Aintree showpiece.
âBarryscourt Lad was lame after the race and he wonât run in the Grand National. I doubt he will run again this season, although we will have to see,â said Pipe.
âRodi Greene gave him a great ride yesterday and it was great to win the race. Itâs just a shame that the horse is not right now.â
