Ayr to check again

Tuesday's meeting at Ayr remains in the balance after an inspection revealed the course to be still frozen in places.

A second inspection has been called for 3.30pm on Monday.

Clerk of the course Chris Kennedy said: "I'm optimistically hopeful but it really just depends on what the weather does.

"We're not forecast any frost tonight and they are talking about temperatures up to plus seven or eight tomorrow.

"The problem is that when you have had frost in the ground for so long it takes a long time to come out."
