Ascot abandoned

Ascot have had to abandon their meeting tomorrow due to a frozen track.

The Berkshire track was due to stage the feature race of the day, the Victor Chandler Chase, but a morning inspection showed the track to be unraceable.

Clerk of the course Nick Cheyne said: “Basically the temperatures hadn’t dropped too much overnight but there is still a covering of snow and still a lot of frost in the ground.”
