Doyoun has died

Doyoun, winner of the 1988 2000 Guineas and sire of the brilliant Daylami, has died, it has been announced on the Thoroughbred Times website.

Doyoun, winner of the 1988 2000 Guineas and sire of the brilliant Daylami, has died, it has been announced on the Thoroughbred Times website.

The 17-year-old son of Mill Reef, who was at stud in Turkey, died on Thursday at Veliefendi equine hospital in Istanbul after suffering from an undisclosed health problem for nearly a month.

Doyoun had stood since 1999 at the Turkish Jockey Club’s Izmit Pension Stud Farm located approximately 60 miles southeast of Istanbul.

He had previously been at the Aga Khan’s Gilltown Stud in Ireland from 1989 to 1998.

Bred by the Aga Khan, Doyoun won three of seven starts and finished third in the Derby and the Champion Stakes.

Doyoun was trained by Sir Michael Stoute and ridden in all his races by Walter Swinburn.
