Ferdy Murphy has decided to run both Truckers Tavern and Streamstown in the two and a half mile ladbrokes.com Handicap Chase at Newbury on Saturday.

The West Witton trainer said: “We need to get a run into both of them, and we are taking

Truckers down there rather than to Kelso on Monday – the trip and the galloping track will suit him, though he will have plenty of weight.

“But I will put him in at Kelso just as a precaution in case there are any problems at Newbury.”

The two-and-a-half mile trip may be on the sharp side for Streamstown, but Murphy added:

“He is ready for a run too and provided all goes well we might run him in the Tommy Whittle at Haydock next month.

“But the Welsh National at Chepstow on December 27 has been the long term target and he might go straight there after Newbury if we think he does not need another one in between.”
