Doyle in hat-trick bid
Irish trainer Mouse Morris today revealed that Boss Doyle will attempt the hat-trick in Saturday’s Grade Two £30,000 (€47,400) John Smith’s Hurdle at Wetherby.
The 10-year-old has bagged the three mile and a furlong contest for the past two years holding off Earthmover by three-quarters of a length in 2000 before finishing seven lengths clear of Spendid last year.
Boss Doyle also ran at the Wetherby meeting in 1998, finishing runner-up to Strath Royal in the Peterhouse Group Charlie Hall Chase.
“Boss Doyle appears very well and seems to run well fresh,” said the Co Tipperary-based trainer today.
“We’ll take it race by race now as he’s getting on. I’d just like to win this race for the third time if possible.
“I’d be hopeful – he has a chance.”
