Stratford meeting off

The storms sweeping Britain have caused the abandonment of racing at Stratford.

Course manager Stephen Lambert said: "A combination of high winds and loss of electricity at the track have forced us to abandon the meeting."

Lambert stressed, however, that the meeting scheduled for the track on Thursday will go ahead as planned.

Meanwhile, over in Ireland the meeting at Wexford has also fallen foul of the atrocious weather.

A spokesman said: "We have abandoned due to the state of the course and poor road conditions."

Monday's meeting at Galway is also the subject of a precautionary 7am inspection.

Sunday's scheduled meeting at the track was abandoned on Friday.
