Storming Home wins Dewhurst Stakes
Storming Home (8-1) fully justified the decision to supplement him for the Emirates Airline Champion Stakes at Newmarket today.
The Barry Hills-trained four-year-old has run a string of brave races in top company but excelled himself here to land the spoils from 5-2 favourite Moon Ballad.
Hills’ jockey son Michael tracked Moon Ballad, who had been given a nice lead throughout by stablemate Equerry, all the way and produced the Machiavellian colt to collar that rival just over a furlong from home.
He then dug deep to hang on with Noverre joining the leading pair as a thrilling battle ensued close home.
