Al Jadeed wins Royal Lodge Stakes
John Gosden's magnificent run of recent form continued when Al Jadeed delivered a gritty display to win the Group Two Hackney Empire Royal Lodge Stakes at Ascot.
The Hamdan Al Maktoum-owned colt fought out a protracted battle with Bahamian Dancer inside the final two furlongs but was always just holding sway and got home by a neck.
Favourite Van Nistelrooy did not enjoy the clearest passage but kept on well once in the clear for third without showing the pace required to challenge the first two.
