Malhub could contest Diadem
John Gosden‘s top-class sprinter Malhub may appear again this season in next weekend‘s Brunswick Diadem Stakes at Ascot.
The Kingmambo colt worked well over the weekend according to the Manton trainer.
“He seems to be in really good form,” Gosden said.
“He is still in the Diadem and he could run there but it all depends upon the ground.
“It would be fine now but it’s hard to believe that we will have another dry week. We’ve wanted dry weather all summer when we got rain and now you would expect it to be raining it is bone-dry.”
Malhub has only once been out of the first two in his five races this season, four of which came in Group One company.
Having landed a minor Yarmouth event in June, he beat Danehurst by a length and a half in Royal Ascot‘s Golden Jubilee Stakes.
He was then unsuited by the soft underfoot conditions when finishing seventh to Continent in the July Cup.
However, since then the four-year-old has finished in the runner up spot behind Kyllachy in York‘s Nunthorpe Stakes before being short-headed by Invincible Spirit in Haydock‘s Sprint Cup earlier this month.
