McCoy nears record target
Tony McCoy edged closer to Richard Dunwoody's all-time record of 1,699 winners over jumps in Britain with a typically polished ride on Sunridge Fairy in the opener at Cartmel.
The 10-11 favourite was ridden clear on the long run-in to score by four lengths from Washington Pink in the Rebecca Julian And Steven Dixon Wedding Day Juvenile Novices' Hurdle.
After partnering the Patrick Haslam-trained filly the champion jockey headed south to ride Epicure for Martin Pipe in the Worcester County Cricket Club Handicap Hurdle at the west midlands venue.
McCoy now needs just three winners to draw level with Dunwoody's tally.
