Aidan O’Brien added to his classic tally by taking this afternoon’s Gainsborough Poule d’Essai des Poulains at Longchamp with Landseer.

The Mick Kinane-ridden colt burst through the pack to take up the running around a furlong and a half from home and he ran on well to land a convincing victory from Medecis, with Bowman back in third.

Godolphin’s runner Firebreak, ridden by Frankie Dettori, finished fourth but was demoted to sixth after the stewards ruled he had hampered Paul Cole’s Guys And Dolls in running.

Landseer was third behind Bowman and Medecis in the Prix De Fontainbleau on his last outing and Kinane said: ‘‘He has improved a lot for his last run.’’
