Officials at Newmarket have finished watering the Rowley Mile course ahead of the three-day Craven Meeting which gets under way tomorrow.

The current dry spell had left the track firm prompting clerk of the course Michael Prosser to take action on Friday.

‘‘Basically we finished watering on Saturday and we are now good to firm,’’ Prosser said.

‘‘We are going to monitor the situation.

‘‘It is a bright day but we could get the odd shower on Monday. It may not be a huge amount and if it needs a couple of millimetres putting on to maintain the going we will water.’’
