Horse racing: Green light for Ayr

Officials at Ayr have given today’s fixture at the Scottish track the green light following an inspection this morning.

Clerk of the course Chris Kennedy said: ‘‘We’ve passed the inspection. We had no rain overnight and it’s dry and windy at the moment.

‘‘There is rain forecast for this morning and showers this afternoon but at the moment we’re all systems go.

‘‘It’s dried out very well so hopefully if we get some we’ll be able to handle it.

‘‘We’re were lucky yesterday because the wind took a lot of the rain we were due to get all around us and that could happen again today.’’

The going is described as heavy on both courses.
