Racing: Kelami to miss Cheltenham date
The Queen Mother’s JCB Triumph Hurdle hope Kelami will definitely not take part in the Cheltenham event after undergoing soft palate surgery.
The four-year-old, who is trained in France by Francois Doumen, finished second to Volano in the Ripley Juvenile Novices’ Hurdle at Sandown on Saturday.
But the Queen Mother’s racing manager Sir Michael Oswald has confirmed that Kelami, a 25-1 chance for the Festival with bookmakers William Hill, will not take part in the two mile, one furlong contest.
He said: ‘‘He had soft palate operation yesterday, which we understand went well, but he will definitely not run in the Triumph Hurdle.’’
