Norman Williamson will sit out the next couple of days after damaging his wrist ligaments at Leopardstown.

Irish jockey Williamson rode 11-8 favourite Ned Kelly to win yesterday’s AIG Irish Champion Hurdle but gave up his remaining mounts after injuring himself in a fall in the previous race.

Williamson’s agent Dave Roberts confirmed he will miss his four rides at Kempton today but expects his lay-off to be relatively short.

He said: ‘‘He’s having a couple of days off because he’s a bit sore but he should be back on Wednesday.’’
