Racing: Madame Jones tries again
Madame Jones will make another attempt to set a new all-time record for the number of handicap wins in a year on Saturday.
She is one of 12 runners declared for the first division of the bet-direct.co.uk over one mile at Lingfield.
Madame Jones won at Wolverhampton a fortnight ago when landing her 12th race of the season - but failed to set a new record that night because the race was not a handicap.
She has failed to win in four attempts since then and time is now running out for another victory before the end of the year.
The six-year-old equalled the all-time record for the most handicap wins in a British Flat season, with her 11th victory of the year at Wolverhampton earlier this month.
The mare broke the modern-day Flat handicap record with her tenth win of the year through a gritty performance in the 11-runner Arnold Palmer Handicap over a mile at Nottingham in September.
The feat had not been achieved since 1874.
She now shares the all-time record with two 19th-century handicappers, Misty Morn (1858) and Honesty (1869).
Madame Jones equalled the record of nine handicap wins with a victory at Yarmouth on August 26.
