Horse Racing: Third Cheltenham race saved

Cheltenham's Grade Two novices' hurdle, which was lost when Saturday's card was abandoned due to frost, has been saved.

The Bristol Novices' Hurdle over three miles will now take place at Cheltenham on New Year's Day, according to the British Horseracing Board.

To compensate for lost opportunities three races have now been salvaged from Saturday's programme with the Bula and Relkeel Hurdles being staged at Newbury on Wednesday.

And following the abandonment of the Tripleprint Gold Cup the prize-money for the Unicoin New Homes Handicap Chase at Cheltenham on January 1 has been increased to £50,000.
