Athletics: Ireland's Matthews wins in Loughrea

Ireland's Peter Matthews, ranked number four, was the clear winner in the BUPA Ireland Loughrea Road Race.

Matthews was followed by England's Ben Noad followed by Ireland's Seamus Powers who finished second last year.

The defending champion, John Mayock, finished fourth.

The first woman to finish was Limerick's Rosmary Ryan who completes a double of races after her previous run in the streets of Galway 8k run.
