The Loughrea Road Race has begun.

The BUPA sponsored event will be ran over five miles.

Irish runners will compete against England, Scotland, Wales, France and Italy to make the weekend a true Six Nations fare.

The race has played host to some of the worldÂąs top athletes since being revived in 1999.
