‘Déise Evening’ at August Racing Festival in Tramore

The opening meeting of the €3 million four-day festival tomorrow is “Déise Evening” and gives fans of the hurlers a chance to support the team’s fund and meet with several of the team’s mentors ahead of Saturday’s eagerly-awaited replay.

“Déise Evening affords us all an opportunity to support the hurler’s fund,” racecourse general manager Sue Phelan said yesterday. “We’re exceptionally proud of the lads and of what they have done for the city and the county and for the game.” She said the festival is expected to draw over 20,000 people to Tramore, “and there’s definitely a greater buzz about the meeting after Sunday’s match”.
