Adool makes impressive debut

Dermot Weld and Pat Smullen combined for a double with debutante Adool and Footbridge in Fairyhouse ahead of their Investec Derby bid with Harzand tomorrow.

A daughter of Teofilo, owned by Hamdan Al Maktoum, Adool proved the most impressive winner of the evening when making a successful debut in the concluding Fairyhouse Special Offers Fillies Maiden.

Having tracked the leaders, the 4/1 shot picked up well and stretched clear to beat Easy In Love by four and a half lengths, prompting her trainer to explain: “It wasn’t the strongest of maidens, but she did it well. She’s very fit and loved that fast ground. Hopefully, she’ll progress through the season and, if she does, she could be a black type filly later in the season.”
