Droopys Roddick rules in Kirby decider

Trained by Pat Buckley for John Proctor, the April ’14 son of Droopys Jet and Droopys Start produced his best break of the competition, and used his pace to clear the three runners on his inner as they raced to the turn. Favourite Clares Rocket missed the kick and could never get involved, whereas Riverside Oscar challenged early with litter brother Riverside Chip in third.

However, the winner, whose middle and finishing speeds are his best assets, pulled away down the back, and maintained a searching gallop all the way to hit the line eight lengths clear of Riverside Oscar, in a flying 28.09, with Witches Belle getting up late to snatch third spot from Riverside Chip.
